1. Opening the App
When you open the Bron desktop app, what you see depends on whether you've logged in before.
If you've logged in before, you'll see a Welcome back screen showing your account. Click the arrow next to your name to log back in, or tap Use another account to sign in with a different profile.
If this is your first time, you'll see two options: Log in and Get Started. To create a new account, click Get Started. To log in to an existing account, click Log in.
2. Logging In via Browser
If you're logging in for the first time, haven't logged in recently, or your passkey is stored in a browser-based password manager (like Google Password Manager), use the Log in via browser option — this is the most common path for new and returning users.
Make sure to copy the code shown in the app. Then either click Open in browser, or copy the link and paste it into the browser where your passkey is saved.
In the browser, if you don't see the account you need, click Use another account.
Then click Log in with passkey.
Your default password manager will pop up — close it and pick whatever is convenient for you. You can also use a passkey from your phone or a security key here.
Once you've selected your account, you'll be asked to enter the login code from the app.
Type in the code, review the device shown to confirm it's your request, then click Confirm. The app will redirect you to your account.
💡 Once logged in, your account will be remembered as your main account in the desktop app. In the future, you won't need to go through the browser login you'll see the Welcome back screen with your account ready to go. To add a passkey directly to the desktop app and skip this process next time, go to Settings → Security and add a new passkey saved wherever is convenient for you.
3. Logging In with a Passkey
After clicking Log in, you'll be taken to the Verify with your passkey screen. Click Log in with passkey to continue. Your device will ask for your fingerprint, face, or screen lock depending on where your passkey is stored.
Your passkey options depend on your device on Mac, passkeys saved in Apple Passwords or iCloud Keychain will appear. On Windows, you'll be prompted via Windows Hello.
4. Using a Passkey from Another Device
If your passkey is stored on your phone or a security key, click More Options on the Sign In prompt.
You can choose to Scan QR Code to use your phone's passkey, or Use Security Key if you have a physical key. Select your preferred option and click Continue.
💡 In the mobile app: if you sign in on a new phone by scanning a QR code from another signed-in device, the app will then offer to add a passkey stored on this phone — accept it to sign in directly next time.
5. Linking a New Device
Linking is different from logging in. Instead of signing in with a passkey, you add another device to your account from a device you're already signed in on, by scanning a QR code — no passkey needed on the new device. Use this to set up your phone alongside your desktop, or the other way around.
💡 You'll need a device that's already signed in to Bron to show the QR code.
On desktop / web (show the QR code)
On the device you're already signed in on, go to Settings → Security → Linked Devices and click Link a new device.
A QR code appears — keep this window open.
Scan it with the new phone (see below).
A 6-digit code then appears here on the desktop. Enter that code on the phone to confirm.
On mobile (scan the QR code)
Open the Bron mobile app and press Log in.
Choose Log in with another device.
Press Scan the QR code and scan the code shown on your desktop or web app.
Check that the device details match, enter the 6-digit code from the desktop, and Approve.
Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or PIN — the device is now linked.

💡 Linking adds the device to your account. To also sign transactions from it, mark it as a trusted device — see Managing Trusted Devices.
6. Recovery and New Accounts
From the login screen, you can also Recover your passkey if you've lost access, or click Create an account if you're new to Bron.
