Shielded Tokens on Bron (Powered by Zama)

Updated this week

The functionality described below will be available in Q1 2026.

Zama is a Web3 privacy technology provider focused on enabling confidential assets and smart contracts.

On Bron, Zama technology makes it possible to:

  • Hide transaction amounts on public blockchains

  • Keep transactions verifiable without revealing balances

  • Convert assets between public and confidential formats

Zama does not custody funds and cannot access user balances. All actions are initiated and confirmed by you in Bron.

1. How Shielding Works

When you shield a supported token:

  • The public token is converted into its confidential version

  • The transaction is recorded on-chain

  • The amount is hidden from public view

  • The confidential balance is visible only inside Bron

You can unshield the token at any time to return it to its standard, publicly visible form.

2. How to Shield a Token

  1. Open Bron and go to Holdings

  2. Select a supported token

  3. Tap Shield

  4. Enter the amount

  5. Confirm the transaction

When shielding tokens, make sure to sign twice: once to approve the transaction, and once to approve the shielding.

Once completed:

  • Your asset appears in its confidential form

  • Your confidential balance updates in Bron

  • The transaction amount is not publicly visible on-chain

3. What Is Visible On-Chain

When you send or receive a shielded token:

Visible:

  • Transaction hash

  • Sender and receiver addresses

  • Transaction status

Hidden:

  • Transaction amount

  • Shielded balance changes

Observers can verify that a transaction occurred β€” without seeing how much was transferred.

4. How to Unshield a Token

You can convert a shielded token back to its public version at any time.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the shielded token in your holdings

  2. Tap Unshield

  3. Enter the amount

  4. Confirm the transaction

After unshielding:

  • The asset returns to its public form

  • Amounts become visible on-chain again

  • Funds remain fully usable and transferable

There is no lock-up period.

5. Fees & Network

  • Shielding and unshielding are on-chain transactions

  • Standard network (gas) fees apply

  • Fees depend on the selected network and network conditions
